The FP7 project observatoryNANO is funded for four years and includes 16 partners from 10 European States. Its mission is to create a European Observatory on Nanotechnologies to present reliable, complete and responsible science-based and economic expert analysis, across technology sectors, establish dialogue with decision makers and others regarding the benefits and opportunities, balanced against barriers and risks, and allow them to take action to ensure that scientific and technological developments are realized as socio-economic benefits. Interim Reports on Scientific and Technological Developments
These reports represent the first output from the observatoryNANO project.
They are based on extensive literature review of nanoscience and nanotechnology developments in the following ten broad sectors:
aerospace, automotive, and transport; agrifood; chemistry and materials; construction; energy; environment; health, medicine and nanobio; ICT; security; textiles.
Each report is divided into a number of sub-sectors, details of which can be found on the relevant technology sector web-page.
Each sub-sector report can be downloaded separately, and has links to other relevant reports.
Sources of information included: peer-reviewed scientific publications; government and non-governmental organisation reports;
company reports; patents; reports from other projects and initiatives.
This is work in progress, and forms the foundation for expert engagement in the above broad sectors.
Final reports, validated by the expert community will be published online in April 2009.
The observatoryNANO consortium welcomes feedback and input to this work.
If you have comments on any report, or if you would like to be involved in the expert engagement process,
please contact the lead partner for the technology sector(s) or the project coordinator.
Please note that these are interim, draft reports;
the observatoryNANO consortium takes no responsibility or liability for their content or consequences from parties acting upon the content of the reports.
