China must invest up to 30 billion dollars a year to reach its climate goal, Chinese report states.

The Chinese press is preparing the Chinese for future increases in fees and taxes to fund the nation’s efforts to curb its greenhouse gas emissions. Each household may end up paying the equivalence of 64 dollars a year in fees and taxes in order to help fulfill the Chinese target for curbing emissions growth, writes China Daily, according to AFP. Last week China said it would curb its greenhouse gas emissions per unit of gross domestic product by between 40 and 45 percent by 2020 compared to 2005 levels. According to an academic study quoted by China Daily, China needs to invest up to 30 billion dollars a year to meet its climate goal.
