Happy New Year - 2009 Wrap-Up - Peru This Week, 138th edition

It is amazing and at the same time wonderful to see how Peru continues to improve. Despite the worldwide financial crisis — and at times, the greed, cronyism and poor management of this rich country by our authorities — Peru is moving forward. Of course Peru could have done much better, and yes, the country let its people down on several occasions. But after reading some of the 4,000 original articles and news items we published during 2009, I was pleased to see there was more good news than bad, and that residents of Peru generally agree with us. I see many positive achievements in 2009 and I have great expectations for 2010. I’m convinced that Peru in time will become the greatest country to live, work and visit in Latin America (LivinginPeru.com’s vision for almost 5 years). Call me naive, but I’m sure that with correct leadership and another 20-30 years to improve our educational and health system, the infrastructure, our environment and our unfortunate culture of corruption, we will reach our goal. LivinginPeru.com and our Peru this Week newsletter will continue to offer valuable information from and about Peru using the latest technologies to entertain and open the eyes of those interested in exploring new opportunities and adventures, which Peru has so much of to offer. To continue increasing your interest and investment in Peru, your opinion and suggestions are very important and I encourage you to keep writing us at editor@LivinginPeru.com, so we can continue our mission and deliver what it is you want in 2010.
From the land of opportunities, Happy New Year!Yours
Sincerely,
Carsten KorchEditor-in-Chief/GM
