The “Development and Climate Days” special event has been a feature of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) for several years. At COP 15, it was held from 11-14 December. Organized by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the event at COP 15 provided opportunities to share information on the negotiations and on key development and climate issues. The event focused on the following issues:
land, water and forests (day one); justice, ethics and humanitarian issues (day two); planning adaptation (day three); andmitigation, finance and the private sector (day four).
The event also involved a film festival on climate and development issues, featuring short films from around the world. The COP 15 Development and Climate Days event was sponsored by the UK Department for International Development (DfID) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (Danida).
