Earth Day 2010: A Global Call for Climate Action

To mark the historic 40th anniversary of Earth Day on 22 April, 2010, Earth Day Network, together with 20,000 partner organizations in 190 countries, will call on world leaders to act now on climate change. Please join us in this critical campaign to save the planet.
Partner with Earth Day Network to help our global campaign catalyze and connect millions of people and thousands of Earth Day activities.
Help generate a Billion Acts of Green™ through our Global Days of Service (17-18 April). Community organizations around the globe are creating volunteer service activities. For example, The Eden Center, a non-profit organization based in Tirana, Albania is organizing youth across Tirana to collect paper in their neighborhoods and bring it to school for recycling.
Earth Day Network President, Kathleen Rogers, recently visited India meeting with NGO groups, government leaders, educators and activists. Organizations such as The Indian Youth Climate Network and The India Trees Foundation are calling upon citizens to use recycled products instead of buying items made from virgin plastics and paper as part of an effort to educate the population on sustainable actions.

On 22 April, Earth Day Network's Global Day of Conversation will join together more than 500 mayors and locally-elected officials with their constituents in meetings about climate, energy and sustainability. To date, many local officials, including the Sheriff Mayors of Mumbai and Kolkata, are committed to engaging with their constituents on Earth Day. These conversations will ultimately elevate the collective voice of local governments and communities in a national and international climate action dialogue, spurring action at the federal and international levels.
